As millions of people are left devastated by typhoon Mangkhut and hurricane Florence, unpredictable weather events continue across the globe, hitting vulnerable communities and threatening the wildlife we cherish.
Record-breaking temperatures like the ones this summer, alongside extreme weather events, are contributing to an increase in global hunger, while super storms and typhoons – like Florence and Manghkut – put homes and lives in immediate risk.
We’re living on a hotter, hungrier, more hazardous planet.
Unless we act fast, this could become the new normal. Ask the Prime Minister to make sure the UK does its bit to cut greenhouse gas emissions and keep our planet at a safe temperature.
To: The Prime Minister
The UK must contribute its fair share to the global effort to tackle climate change. I call on your government to adopt a legally binding target to:
- Cut the UK's net greenhouse gas emissions to zero by 2045.
- Meet our international commitment to keep the planet’s temperature rise below 1.5 degrees (above pre-industrial levels).
